Napa, California: Our customer had initially hired us to do only the headlights of his prized Corvette. Additionally, when we inspected the vehicle’s painted surface, we noticed, unbeknownst to the customer, that the paint had lots of scratches and swirls which had dulled and compromised the clear coat on his Corvette’s paint job.

We recommended that our customer have a two-step paint correction, and he couldn’t believe that his car could look better than it does now. We did a small test spot on the hood to show him potential results, and he was immediately blown away by the results. He let us do a two-step paint correction on his car.

Since the Corvette was all already washed, we started the process by giving the vehicle a quick detail and decontamination with a clay bar treatment. After the clay bar treatment, we performed a hard compounding pass on the entire vehicle with an Italian foam wool pad and compound. Hard compounding on the painted surfaces got rid of deeper scratches and swirls. However, compounding is an aggressive process that leaves fine swirl marks of its own so we proceeded to polish the vehicle as a second step to ensure that the Corvette’s paint looked glassy with a slick finish.
