We Polished and Paint Corrected this Black GMC Sierra in Napa Back to Factory Finish: Water Spots and Scratches Gone!

Napa, California: Napa, California: At our shop, we had this truck drop by swirled, scratched, and loaded with water spots. We recommended the customer get a dedicated 2-step paint correction process to help remove the issues on the paint and leave a glossy, mirror-like finish. It is important to note that a high-quality paint correction job can save you thousands of dollars of money in repainting, which may not bring back the factory finish that you may be looking for.

We started the paint correction of the GMC Sierra truck by first washing the vehicle with our signature foam cannon wash and drying it with an ultra-plush microfiber towel. After the drying, we gave the entire vehicle a non-abrasive clay bar treatment which got rid of any above-surface contaminants(eg. Sap, industrial fallout, overspray, and so on.)

Once the surface was decontaminated, we aggressively gave the vehicle a compounding pass, using a high-speed buffer and hard-cut compound, that removed some of the deeper scratches and swirls. However, since the compounding process is so aggressive, the compounding process can leave swirl marks that have to be removed using a second polishing step. After the two steps, the vehicle looked like a black, pearly mirror, as seen in the pictures above. You can also see in the video the test spot results of a two-step process that was carried out all over the vehicle.
