Eye-Popping and Insanely Glossy 2-Step Paint Correction on Red Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII

Napa, California: The owner of this Red Mitsubishi Lancer had his car re-painted a couple of months back but the finish on it had lots of rotary buffer holograms and swirl marks that hadn't been buffed out properly. Initially, the customer was interested in a one-step paint correction and polishing job but we explained to him that going for the extra compounding step on the vehicle's paint would make it look better than new! The customer pulled the trigger on the two-step and spoiler alert: the car became a citywide head-turner! 

 We started the paint correction job by first giving the vehicle our signature foam cannon wash with deionized water and ceramic foam shampoo. We then dried the Lancer inside the cool garage while blowing out air from crevices and nooks. We then inspected the surface to see if it would require any clay bar treatment since a rough surface on the vehicle can create more swirls on the surface. 

After the inspection and minor clay bar treatment, we cut the vehicle's paint by using a heavy-cut compound and a wool pad that aggressively removed deeper scratches, swirls, and holograms. Such an aggressive process can leave light swirl marks on the paint which we removed by following up with a second step of polishing the car's paint with a finishing pad and a medium cut polish. 

By the time we were done with the two-step paint correction on the Mitsubishi Lancer, the car had gained an eye-popping rich and deep red color that blew the customer away. We then put a 12-month sealant on the car's painted surfaces which provided the vehicle with all-weather protection and enhanced mirror-gloss.
